Abstract

This paper is focused on the study of the influence of the manufacturing process on the fracture behaviour ofaxisymmetric notched cylindrical specimens of pearlitic steel with different degree of cold drawing. Tensile tests, tillfinal fracture, have been performed in samples taken from the different stages of the real manufacturing chain.Specifically, in addition to the initial hot rolled material and the heavily cold drawn prestressing steel, two steels withintermediate cold drawing degree have been tested. Different “V” notches have been used in order to evaluate the effectof these geometries on the fracturing process. Variables as the maximum load, net maximum stress, yield load, net yieldstress or stiffness have been obtained.
