Modificación de los sesgos atencionales en el tratamiento de la agresividad

Resumen

La agresividad tiene importantes perjuicios sobre la salud física y mental de la población. Las personas agresivas tienen actitudes positivas hacia determinado tipo de interacción que implica confrontación física con los demás, y que consideran una forma legítima de comportamiento. Cuando estos esquemas mentales se activan afectan al procesamiento de la información en sus fases iniciales (sesgos atencionales), condicionando la dirección e intensidad de las conductas. En esta revisión narrativa se desarrolla el estado de la cuestión, y se profundiza en los mecanismos que subyacen y desencadenan la conducta agresiva. También se discuten los estudios que han trabajado en la modificación de los sesgos atencionales en diferentes trastornos, así como las incongruencias en los resultados que surgen de las diferencias entre el tipo de paradigma y el material utilizado. Se concluye que son necesarias herramientas que permitan una mayor sensibilidad y fiabilidad en la medida de los sesgos atencionales. Esto contribuiría a mejorar las terapias que se aplican a ciertos colectivos (maltratadores, presos), y los tratamientos en personas con problemas en el control de la ira y conductas violentas.
