Abstract
Many approaches of causality start from the idea that a cause is, above all, a means or an effective strategy to attain a definite practical result. This makes causality an important concept in the philosophy of technology. In this paper I analyse some of these approaches and conclude that the ideas of N. Cartwright about hunting causes and using them make her point of view more interesting than the others for the study of relations between basic science and technology
