Abstract

Many approaches of causality start from the idea that a cause is, above all, a means or an effective strategy to attain a definite practical result. This makes causality an important concept in the philosophy of technology. In this paper I analyse some of these approaches and conclude that the ideas of N. Cartwright about �hunting causes and using them� make her point of view more interesting than the others for the study of relations between basic science and technology
