Abstract
The «platonic ascent» in the petrarquist poetry is the way the soul in love with beauty follows towards perfection. Thus the lover goes beyond the limits of his ego and, dued to an unitive knowledge, he reaches spiritual, cosmic and divine dimensions. Because of this, the «platonic ascent» encloses a process of personal realization that they refered to as «perfection».
