Resum

It is difficult and risky to determine whether it exists or not opposition between these two concepts in literature, since it is a highly ideological issue and one with no clear solution. But since it is a well studied topic I dare to expound it because from my experience as a professor and a researcher on el Siglo de Oro, I have been discovering that such an opposition is just a mere illusion. It is the result of a time and of romantic and idealistic ideas that were maintained in time without the needed reflection. My solution which I do not intend to be the final one is supported by the transmitted ideas in the Antigua Sabiduría and the neoplatonic literature. At the same time, it is confirmed by the new direction sciencies have taken from a few decades ago, specially psychology and physics. Up to this point, my conclusion is that there is no such an opposition, but both points join and complement each other in an unique process that goes from reality to metareality that is the one of human fulfilment.
