Resumo

Medical and pharmaceutical texts, like texts from all other fields of expertise, contain a large number of specific terms, which implies that translators must deal with a broad terminology and specialized knowledge. Besides, it must be noted that texts in this field may be of vital importance in some cases. Consequently, translators in charge of trans-lating such projects should have a certain degree of specialization, should use specific resources and tools and should follow a documentation method. In order to deliver a flawless translation, translators must pay close attention to phraseological units and false friends. In this article we will present the theoretical frame of our approach to phraseology and give a few examples of both phraseological units and false friends that German into Spanish translators of medical and pharmaceutical texts can encounter when translating such texts and whose proper translation they must take into account so as not to make mistakes that could be easily avoided, always aiming at achieving the required quality
