Zusammenfassung

For some time now, China has been competing with the United States for a dominant position in the world. The competition is mainly economic, although it also involves, of course, political, social and military aspects. One of the most hotly contested regions is undoubtedly Latin America, where the United States is losing more and more ground and China is positioning itself as the largest trading partner. In this context, Latin American countries have had to reconfigure their foreign policies in order to meet their expectations of whoever offers the best possibilities. Peru has been no exception and, in fact, in recent years it has moved closer to China as its main trading partner, although it has not completely let go of the hand of the United States. This article explores how Peruvian foreign policy has been reconfigured in the face of competition between China and the United States.
