Abstract
The present research arises, as a result of the interest to reconstruct Historical Memory of Social Work, in Arica y Parinacota Region. Despite there exists research into the History of Social Work in Chile, there is no research focused on regional particularities, with particular attention on the North of Chile. A fact that supports a need to generate records, concerning the multiple disciplinary realities, that forerunners went through in the territory.In order to answer each objective, a biographical research approach was employed, which was the theoretical-methodological perspective, used to construct testimonies of eight female visitors and social workers who took part in the study, whose ages ranged from 72 to 101 years old. The narratives allowed to know in depth aspects of professional training, identify factors that have defined the professional practice in Arica and Parinacota Region, describe the transformations and consequences that students, visitors and social workers have gone through since the military dictatorship, and show how Social Work has evolved since its origin, in Arica and Parinacota Region-Chile...
