Abstract
During the Middle Ages, the Church acquired so much power and influence in society as a political and economic institution that its study is inevitable to understand the economic, social, cultural and ideological evolution of that period. This study concentrates specifically on the rural economy of Extremadura and Leon during the 12th century and 13th century and is based on information found in records of ecclesiastical funds kept in the Archives of the Cathedral and Diocese of Salamanca
