Abstract

The aim of this paper is to investigate climate change, from the social point of view, by means of Content Analysis applied to the five Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Assessment Reports (1990, 1995, 2001, 2007 and 2014) and the twenty-two Agreements approved by the Parties to the World Climate Conferences (COP1 to COP22). In short, it shows the protection scenario because of the foresight and prevention measures that guarantee the safety of citizens at acceptable levels in case of adverse phenomena, scientifically warned and expected to be led by climate change. The results of the Content Analysis allow the characterization of the state of the art, showing that, in those documents, the key issues are knowledge and explanation of the phenomenon but a lack of operational measures conducive to the efficient protection of life on planet Earth.
