Résumé

Currently, there is a growing demand for the inclusion of parents and family members in early intervention programs for the development of communication and social skills, to reduce core symptoms of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Even now, no systematic study has been carried out on the role played by parents within programs and / or strategies designed to improve specific difficulties. Knowing the role that families should have in the programs can increase the effect, reduce costs of services, as well as stress and family burden. The main objective of this review is to compare the role of parents in different intervention programs, considering their effectiveness and results in improving skills in children with ASD. The electronic and manual searches identified a total of 465 references, of which 13 were included in the analysis. The results suggest that interventions that include parents have positive effects in terms of skill acquisition. The effects are greater in programs where parents actively participate, cooperate with professionals and receive specific training. It is also important to highlight the adaptation of the program to the characteristics of each child and their families to achieve substantial improvements in the learning of skills.
