Abstract

This paper deals with the influence of the manufacturing process on the microscopic fracture behaviour of axisymmetric notched specimens of pearlitic steels with different degrees of cold drawing. To this end, samples from different steps of the manufacturing chain were obtained. Specifically, in addition to the initial hot rolled material and the heavily cold drawn prestressing steel, two steels with intermediate cold drawing degrees have been used. The study was made through scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) and image analysis techniques in order to measure and define the fracture process zone (FPZ) in each case.
