Resum

The digital gender gap is a reality increased by the confinement experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic, when it was evidenced that women faced greater obstacles not only to access the Internet, but also when acquiring new digital knowledge that allowed them to make use of information and communications technologies (ICT). This limitation in many cases is related to stereotypes and gender roles. This paper addresses this problem by making a bibliographic and statistical compilation on the digital gender gap in Ecuador, in order to determine the repercussions resulting from the lack of Internet and restricted access to ICT in Ecuadorian women. It also aims to identify how the digital gap affected women during confinement and to define the percentage of digital illiteracy according to gender.
