Abstract

This paper addresses several issues with respect to democracy, the nation and the modern state, on the central theoretical approaches with respect to Jürgen Habermas´s cosmopolitan democracy in times of globalization. To that purpose we will proceed from the habermasian notion of deliberative democracy and its relation to the foundations of politics, it concludes that it is necessary to create new institutions that guarantee the process of redefinition of democracy in a context of social and ecological globalization that induces a process of political change.
