Abstract

The Ode ad Thylesium reflects the literary environment in which Garcilaso moved in Naples and imitates the constructive elements of Horace’s ode. The poet from Toledo also imitates Horace in the representation of his friendship with Tilesio as that of Horace with Virgil : the two,Virgil and Tilesio, introduce their friends into the circles of Maecenas and Seripando of which they were members.
