Abstract
In recent years, the activity carried out within the framework of the HAR2017-85153-P and PROMETEO2017-060 projects has provided new information on the characteristics of the Middle Palaeolithic in the central Mediterranean region, mainly from the excavations carried out in Cova Negra and Abrigo de la Quebrada. Likewise, the excavations carried out in Cova de les Cendres and Cova de les Malladetes have allowed us to define precisely the beginnings of the Upper Palaeolithic and its position with respect to the end of the Middle Palaeolithic, both in industrial and chronological terms, as 51 C14 dates are available for these two sites. The determination of fruit consumption in the Gravettian of Cova de les Cendres is also a relevant achievement. A better definition of the patterns of mobility and occupation of the territory based on faunal data, the advances made in the supply of raw materials, and the novelties produced in the pre-Magdalenian Palaeolithic art, are noteworthy.
