Abstract
This paper focuses on the domestication, diffusion, and introduction of rice into the Japanese Archipelago, as well as its implementation process at the Japanese islands. There are many theories about the domestication process and diffusion routes of this crop, with emphasis on the origin, time, and introduction place into the archipelago of the Yayoi, the rice farming culture which shook Japanese society up, and which brought deep cultural, social, and economic changes about that would lay the foundations for the Imperial Japanese State.
