Zusammenfassung

Rice and agricultural technologies introduction in Japan during Yayoi period implied not only the adoption of a fully agricultural way of life, but also the beginning of a series of social, economic, and religious processes that would bring the Japanese imperial proto-state about. The foundations of such proto-state were supported by the emergence of an elite, whose analysis is key to understanding, both the origin of the Japanese state itself, and the way in which that state would be shaped as a sacred monarchy supported by a solid interregional administrative network.
