Abstract

Native of San Sebastián, Fernando Aramburu is one of the most remarkable writers in the current literary scene. His strong personality and his literary quality confirm it. This essay will focus on El trompetista del Utopía (2003), a novel that deserves special consideration for its notable style differences, its format disposition and its topic (a trumpeter named Benny Lacun in a return trip to his roots). Besides, this is the first work by Aramburu to be adapted for the big screen under the title Bajo las estrellas (Félix Viscarret, 2007). The aim of this essay is to establish a parallel reflection between the filmic and the literary work, two particular forms of expression capable of telling the same story with its own resources and its different essences.
