The process of creating the municipium of Salmantica is revealed as a complex phenomenon, which does not simply consist of an administrative act that granted a certain legal status to the city. Although the date of the municipal promotion remains unknown, the new data provided by archeology and epigraphy allow us to appreciate the importance of the Augustan intervention at the beginning of the Era
