Abstract

The phenomenon of institutional corruption has long posed a challenge to the international community to make evident: Empowering transparency in the public sector as well as in the private sector is essential in order to move from simple growth to sustainable development.Because this phenomenon went from being an exclusively domestic affair to an international one, state responses are articulated through the generation of Conventions that unite the efforts to combat corruption and develop proper coping mechanisms to the phenomenon. In view of the above, this article focuses on accounting for the different normative efforts to fight corruption, beginning with some forms of classification of the phenomenon.
