Abstract

Taking as reference the historical moments of the founding of the Serviço de Proteção aos Índios, in 1910, and of the Fundação Nacional do Índio, in 1967, this text aims to analyze and re-flect on the way of conceiving the inter-ethnic relations and the indigenism of the Brazilian military of the 20th century. From Rondon to AI-5, the relationships between the military and the indigenous speak deeply about how the military viewed themselves and the nation.
