Abstract

During past decades Spanish Dentistry has witnessed a great reduction in the inhabitants/dentist ratio. The aim of this study was to actualize the professional map, and to compare the clinical and behavioural profile between regions. Methods: Data were taken from censuses of the population and dentist as well as from the last Spanish National Health Survey, using database of the National lnstitute of Statistics. Results and Conclusions: during the 1998-2008 period, inhabitants/dentist ratio was reduced in 27.3% to the 1766.2 inhabitants per dentist. High differences were found between provinces, regions or dental colleges in such ratio, but also in the dental visits profile and the last treatment received.
