Resumo

Climate impacts caused by global warming will intensify in the future, and their repercussions will continue to be suffered by the most vulnerable communities in geographical, economic or cultural terms, among other factors, who have contributed the least to their cause. Thus, grassroots environmental justice movements, which demanded an equitable sharing of environmental burdens, evolved into climate justice movements, asserting the existence of a debt between the industrialized States –the main emitters of GHGs– and the States that suffer the greatest impacts. Therefore, the chapter analyzes the evolution of the concepts from grassroots movements, taking into account their characteristic notes, dimensions and their development at the political and social level.
