Abstract

The aim of this research work is to analyse two instruments (one legal and the other political) which are essential for the promotion of cultural heritage in rural areas: the Interpretation Centres and the Provincial Council of Cáceres. Rural areas treasure a wide and heterogeneous cultural heritage; however, they do not have great resources for its maintenance and dissemination. The figure of the Interpretation Centres is therefore an ideal museum institution, as it requires the fulfilment of fewer requirements and functionsthan the rest of the Museum Institutions (Museums and Museum Collections). On the other hand, the Provincial Council of Cáceres carries out a not inconsiderable task of support which has been channeled through the N etwork of Interpretation Centres of the provinceof Caceres.
