Abstract

Scientific evidence supports the benefits of therapeutic exercise for people with sarcopenia disease. Despite this, the existing literature is limited, highlighting the need for further intervention to fully understand which type of exercise best supports. The present study aims to investigate the effects of a physiotherapeutic intervention programme using strength exercises compared to aerobic exercises in people affected with sarcopenia disease. The aim is to evaluate the influence of these interventions on muscle strength, muscle mass, physical performance and serum IGF-1 levels. We propose a physiotherapy protocol based on a controlled clinical trial for people diagnosed with sarcopenia in two groups: control and experimental, both of which will receive 20 intervention sessions, twice a week, with an approximate duration of 60 minutes per session. Several variables will be analysed, including socio-demographics, lifestyle habits, clinics, muscle strength, muscle mass, physical performance and serum IGF-1 levels.
