Doctor by the Universidad de Salamanca with the thesis Aportación al estudio de los mecanismos de transducción de la señal de los receptores opioides. (aplicación a los problemas del dolor y de la tolerancia y dependencia a drogas opiáceas) 2005. Supervised by Dr. Raquel E. Rodríguez Rodríguez.

I am researcher with a solid scientific career, experience and contrastable research results. My research interests are focused in the effects of several agents in the development of the Central Nervous System using the zebrafish as an experimental model and their effect on several behavioural responses. Initially, I studied the molecular mechanisms underlying opioid activity, in relation to pain modulation and to tolerance and dependence. During my PhD Thesis, I studied the biochemistry and pharmacology of endogenous opioid peptides and receptors in the zebrafish, and later on I conducted additional studies on the functionality of the opioid system. At present, I am analysing the in vivo effects of drugs of abuse and I started a new line of research to transfer this basic knowledge, in particular sustainable aquaculture of fish species of economic interest. Given that I currently work at the University, I need to combine my research work with lecturing duties, which usually has a synergic effect on both professional fields. Besides, I regularly assist to training courses (20 on lecturer training and 26 in specialized training) and I am deeply involved in several activities for the Dissemination of Science, such as the Science Week and the Brain Awareness Week.
