Doctor by the Universidad de Granada with the thesis Caracterización bioquímica y molecular del sistema de dos componentes TODS/TODT de Pseudomonas putida DOT-T1E 2008. Supervised by Dr. Juan Luis Ramos, Dr. Tino Krell.

Dr. Lacal is a Professor in Genetics at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Salamanca. As the Academic Coordinator of International Mobility of the Faculty of Biology, he manages the Erasmus and Exchange mobility programs with foreign universities. Dr. Lacal is the principal investigator of the Functional Genetics of Rare Diseases research group and his current line of research focuses on identifying the functional effect of genetic alterations in tumor processes and in rare diseases, fundamentally in RASopathies.
