Abstract

This thesis reports on a study of the verb "dar" of English learner Spanish (advanced level). This research, which belongs to the field of study of Second Language Acquisition, in particular, to learner language research, demonstrates how a corpus linguistic approach to learner Spanish studies can help us to find out the similarities and differences between the written Spanish of a group of non-native speakers and that of a group of native speakers. The identification of similarity and disparity between the learner Spanish and the native Spanish allows us to identify the needs of the learners in essay writing.
