Abstract

The Information Technology and Communication (ICT) have enabled the creation of new business models from the last century. There is currently a trend towards digitization of the company due to the ICT revolution. Therefore, this paper analyzes the evolution and current status of the digital business from the perspective of research, bringing the status of the digital business in Spain. For this we have reviewed the literature and existing data of the digital enterprise and business models that use digital companies. It has also carried out a bibliometric analysis, which allows us to provide the evolution of this research topic, as well as major works, authors and journals and to complete a field study, which has detected the new paradigm of economic performance is provided Spanish companies, where the digitization of the company plays a key role. As a result of this work, we can conclude that in Spain there is much work to be done, development of digital business, although there are two autonomous regions Madrid and Catalonia that stand out dramatically over others. Regarding the development of this research topic, we must indicate that it is little development but is growing. Finally, this thesis has managed to bring a new model of business performance, including the level of digitalization of this as a fundamental part to improve its economic performance.
