Resum

A significant percentage of students from the University of Salamanca deal with the courses taught by the area of Economic History (B.A. in Economics, Business Administration, Small and Medium Business Management and Technical Agricultural Engineering) with a great indifference, a low-level of previous knowledge and little critical thinking. How could we develop their attention, effort and expertise? How could they benefit from their huge capacity to access to multiple information and technology resources? How their academic performance could ultimately be improved? One of the main keys is, in our view, the introduction of active learning practices based on the use of new technologies and methodologies. The aim of this paper is to explain the results achieved from one of this practices: the preparation and presentation of an academic poster. The accumulated experience of two academic years and five different courses and subjects will allow us to present the procedure, advantages and disadvantages of this activity, as well as the main know-how, skills and attitudes reinforced or acquired by the students.
