Résumé

This paper discusses one of the most successful practices implemented during the last three years in undergraduate Economic History courses (BA in Economics, BA in Business Administration, and BA in Small and Medium Firms Management) at the University of Salamanca. This exercise is based in collaborative websites (wikis) created at the students’ intranet (Studium). Experience gained from five different courses and within several teaching innovation projects, and feedback collection from anonymous questionnaires, helped us to identify characteristics, creative process, opportunities and problems of collaborative wikis. This activity has generally improved undergraduates’ skills and abilities to advance information search. Wikis have also promoted the combination of autonomous and joint work and enhanced optimal planning of deadlines, timing and spaces. They additionally represent a good academic mechanism to avoid plagiarism and learn the standard referencing system. In sum, results have clearly improved our Economic History courses, as well as academic and professional skills of our students
