Abstract

School time is a little known educational resource that has been treated more as an obstacle than as an invigorating element of pedagogical action. It is a flexible and changeable element that directly affects the development of the curriculum. There are outstanding differences between the Member States of the European Union in relation to the organization of school time. There is a great deal of variability owing to different climates and to diverse social traditions. However, the Member States tend to standardise the use of school time.
