Résumé

The current chapter presents Cornelia Sorabji (1866-1954) as a pioneering figure in the field of women’s access to education, in the struggle for women rights and in the subversive role of literature against the British Empire. Sorabji’s combative and personal experience is highlighted in relation with her own education and its inherent challenging possibility so that her educational and professional achievements are explained. Then, Sorabji’s writing is proposed to be studied in order to understand the current contests and that Indian society and literature must face.
