Resumo

The acquisition of generic competences on the part of university students is essential both for the continuation of studies in higher levels and for their incorporation to the labour market, and also a policy priority at all levels. This study is focused on exploring the level of self-perceived generic competences of 819 students from the Bachelor’s Degrees imparted in the Faculty of Education of the University of Salamanca through the application of the COMPES Self-report. The aim of this analysis is to verify the extent to which the education-related Bachelor’s Degrees foster the development of the competences included in their steering documents. The results show that, in general, the students’ self-perceived competence level is good (above 4 out of six in all years and Degrees), although not always does it match the specifications of the steering documents, thus prompting further study on the issue.
