Abstract

The English phrase “Behavioural Economics” refers to a sub classification recently intro-duced in the field of economics and which analyses behaviours taking into account aspects related to individuals ́ behaviour. This theory was first applicable to the field of economics, but now can also be linked to regulation in the field of Environment. Behavioural Environ-mental Economics has benefits as a tool to influence consumer behaviour. Among different regulatory techniques this chapter describes green nudges. This study explains what this technique consists of and identifies some practical examples. It also questions whether its use in environmental regulatory matters is ethical, establishing a series of limits that involve the balance between individual interest and public interest.
