Abstract

Progesterone determination of peripheral blood serum is an useful tool to monitor the ovine reproductivecycle. Traditionally serum progesterone is measured using radioimmunoassays (RIA), this workevaluates the utility of a chemoluminescent assay (CIA) to measure serum progesterone in ovine.Serum progesterone measured by CIA reflect ovarian activity in synchronized ewes. CIA assay is shownto be an accurate, fast and reliable method for serum progesterone determination. There is a goodcorrelation between RIA and CIA techniques (Pearson R: 0,871, p<0,001, n=25).
