Resumo

The use of prostaglandins in the melatonin protocols to improve reproductive parameters of Assafmilking ewes has been studied. Two protocols were designed to compare melatonin only vs. Melatoninplus one or two prostaglandin (PGF) injections. In Experiment 1, PGF was administered at day -13 o atdays -13 and -4 before ram introduction (day 0); in experiment 2, at days -23 or -23 and -12. Overall, groups treated with PGF presented higher fertility rates (11,82-13,82%). No differences were obtainedwithin experiments. In conclusion, the combination of melatonin and PGF could result in a better reproductiveperformances, but further experiments are requires to determine the optimal date of PGFadministration
