Abstract

This study investigates the effect on three different types of commercialpowdered milk on the average daily weight gain (expressed in grams) in apopulation of 443 suckling lamb, bred in complete artificial lactation. Thedifferent types of milk used contained different amounts of skim milk "Spray" ina ratio of 62%, 30% and 0% respectively. We obtained significant differences(P<0,001) in average daily weight gain with the highest values for the 62% milk(254 grams gain), 216 grams for the 30% milk and 174 grams for the 0% milk .The results are only comparable to those obtained by (R. Landa, P. Lavín, P.Tree, AR Mantecón and FJ Giráldez, 1997) whose results were 253 grams inlamb of the same breed. We also studied the effect of addition of lactobacilus ina ratio of 8% to the powdered milk. The results showed significant differences(P <0.001): 292.48 grams with the addition of lactic ferments compared to250.79 grams for those of the control group. In conclusion, the best wereobtained with the 62% of milk and the addition of lactic ferments.
