Resumen

En la actualidad hay una demanda creciente en la inclusión de los padres y familiares en los programas de intervención temprana para el desarrollo de habilidades comunicativas y sociales, y reducir síntomas centrales de niños con trastorno del espectro autista (TEA). Hasta ahora no se ha realizado un estudio sistemático sobre el rol que desempeñan los padres dentro de los programas y/o estrategias diseñadas para mejorar determinadas dificultades. Conocer el papel que deben tener las familias en los programas puede incrementar el efecto, reducir costes de servicios, así como el estrés y la carga familiar. El objetivo de esta revisión es comparar el rol de los padres en diferentes programas de intervención, considerando su eficacia y resultados en la mejora de habilidades en niños/as con TEA. Las búsquedas electrónicas y manuales identificaron un total de 465 referencias, de las cuales 13 se incluyeron en el análisis. Los resultados sugieren que las intervenciones que incluyen a padres tienen efectos positivos en términos de adquisición de las habilidades. Los efectos son mayores en programas donde los padres participan activamente, cooperan con profesionales y reciben un entrenamiento específico. Es importante también destacar la adaptación del programa a las características de cada niño/a y de sus familiares para lograr mejoras sustanciales en el aprendizaje de habilidades.
