Abstract
In this interview, Jesús Contreras, Emeritus Professor at the University of Barcelona, retrospectively explains his academic career, which is extremely diverse and multiform, but at the same time enriched by his anthropological interest. In his conversation, Jesús Contreras begins his narrative journey from his first works in the community of Chinchero in Peru, in the 1970s, to what he himself calls the 'transition of Andean themes', also including the study of contemporary food. In these pages he reflects on the authors, works and reasons that influenced this transition, highlighting the stages and projects maintained. All this allows us to trace a vital academic itinerary through which to understand and contextualise the work of a lifetime dedicated to reflection on contemporary food.
