Abstract

It presents a literature review focusing on the model of Quality of Life (QoL), defining the construct, inquiring into its historical development, relevant characteristics, scope and strategies for approaching him. This seeks to overcome the absence of a general theoretical analysis at the chilean level on this issue, surpassing the mere concept of QoL as an approach that emerges from the medical field. The findings point to the objective and subjective nature of the construct, its multidimensional character, its dependence on the life cycle, culture and values of individuals, and the need to study it from multiple methodologies to generalize results, and at the same time, get closer to the specific reality of the subject.
