Abstract

ADHD is one of the most studied research topics in recent years by scientists. Teaching professionals, psychologists, pedagogues, neurologists, etc. They try to understand what the specific functioning of this disorder is, to give the best possible educational response to affected boys and girls and to help families understand why their sons and daughters behave in a certain way in situations that Apparently they may seem every day. In the present study and based on a multidisciplinary conception of ADHD, we have carried out field work consisting of collecting all possible information in relation to children diagnosed with ADHD, provided by their family and by teachers and other professionals. The objectives have been to know the experience of different Extremadura families of children with ADHD and to determine the specific resources and knowledge that Extremadura teachers have. To achieve this, we have used data collection techniques consisting of questionnaires, semistructured interviews and discussion groups. The main results obtained indicate that some risk factors within ADHD are met in our inter-views and that often the necessary time is not dedicated to diagnoses to carry them out, falling into under-diagnoses and supradiagnoses. These and other results highlight the importance of providing teachers with the necessary resources to carry out a successful intervention and promote psychoeducational programs for both diagnosed children and their families that help them situate themselves in the disorder and Choose the appropriate treatments for each specific case.
