Doctor by the Universidad de Salamanca with the thesis Narrativa digital hispana el blog como espacio de creación literaria a comienzos del siglo XXI 2012. Supervised by Dr. Fernando Rodríguez de la Flor Adánez.

Dr. Escandell has served as an educator in institutions such as the University of Valladolid and the Manchester Metropolitan University. In addition to this, he has undertaken research stays at institutions such as Stockholms Universitet. Currently, he is a senior lecturer at the Department of Spanish & Latin American Literature at the University of Salamanca, member of the IEMYRhd (Institute of Medieval, Renaissance and Digital Humanities Studies), and founder and main researcher of TePPeL (Technology and Power in Thought and Letters research group, https://teppel.usal.es). Moreover, he is a member of several international research networks and a collaborator on several Masters at national and international universities (UOC, UIMP, JMU…). His areas of expertise encompass digital literature, digital humanities, and transmediality. With over two decades of experience, he has worked across diverse communication mediums such as press, radio, and digital magazines. Apart from his scholarly publications, he has authored numerous popular science articles and is frequently consulted as an expert by national and international media outlets (such as El Periódico de Cataluña, SER, New York Times…).
