Cristina Almaraz López (Salamanca, 1995) is a PhD student and predoctoral researcher with a contract co-financed by Bank Santander at the University of Salamanca with a focus on the ethics of artificial intelligence. Her thesis is titled "Social transformation by artificial intelligence through training processes: training needs and offers in Spanish companies", and is associated with the research project titled "The conditioning factors of technological change in Spain, 1950–2020: training and research", funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation and co-financed by the European Union and the Spanish State Research Agency. Her previous work as a researcher for ArcelorMittal Global R&D focused on the application of deep learning techniques to real-world scenarios in the industry of steel manufacturing. She achieved her bachelor's and master's degrees in computer engineering and information technologies at the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Gijón (University of Oviedo, Spain), with several extraordinary prizes for the best academic records and a stay at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). She has also studied different minor degrees on many varied topics, including a program on digital transformation at La Salle University and a course on business administration at the IÉSEG School of Management in Paris. She is the author of the book "Deep Learning applied to Computer Vision. Main concepts, historical development and state of the art".
