Abstract

In 2010, the condemnation of Brazil by the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in the Gomes Lund case caused the Federal Prosecutor's Office to change the approach it had followed up to that point and to start filing complaints aimed at satisfying the demands of transitional justice. The article analyses the report of the Federal Prosecutor's Office on its actions in this regard during the last few years. The cases analysed reflect the continued reluctance of the judiciary to comply with the judgment of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, which makes it possible to proceed to analyse the arguments used by the federal prosecutor's office and by the courts. The analysis ends by noting the difficulties that continue to exist in Brazil in order to fulfil all the demands of transitional justice.
