Doctor by the Universidad de Salamanca with the thesis Las dificultades cognitivas ("buggy") en operaciones en las que intervienen algoritmos aritmeticos y su tratamiento educativo con programaciones hipermedia 2005. Supervised by Dr. Joaquín García Carrasco.

She holds a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Salamanca (Spain), where she completed her doctoral studies in Educational Sciences, obtaining her PhD with an Extraordinary Prize in 2005. She has undertaken research stays in the USA on various occasions, including a Fulbright Research Fellowship. At present, she occupies the position of Professor of Didactics and School Organisation at the University. In this capacity, she teaches classes on the subjects of Attention to Diversity and Inclusive School, Needs and Educational Intervention of Students with Disabilities, in addition to General Didactics. She has been awarded three sexenios of research and has delivered conferences and courses in the USA, Europe and South America, as well as in several Spanish universities and institutions. She is a member of the Centre for Research in Human Rights and Public Policies (CIDH-Diversitas) at the University of Salamanca and is Principal Researcher of the Recognised Research Group: Multivariate Perspective in Educational and Social Research: Contexts, Factors and Global Approaches (PMIES), she collaborates as a researcher in the recognised research groups 'Diversitas: Public policies in defence of inclusion, diversity and gender' and in the 'Research in Disability'. At management level, she has been director of the Social Affairs Service of the University of Salamanca and of the University Master's Degree in Teacher Training and Improvement, as well as advisor to the Vice-Rector of Health Sciences. Furthermore, she has fulfilled the role of representative on educational matters for the University of Salamanca within the Coimbra Group of universities.
