Doctor by the Universidad de Salamanca with the thesis Bases morfologicas y funcionales de la inhibición del reflejo auditivo de sobresalto 2006. Supervised by Dr. María Dolores López García.

Dr. Ricardo Gómez Nieto is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cellular Biology and Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Salamanca. He has conducted research in the field of auditory neuroscience and epilepsy, working at prestigious institutions in the United States such as the University of Utah and the University of Connecticut. His experience includes undertaking improvement projects at the multinational pharmaceutical company "Merck Animal Health," as well as extensive experience in teaching and scientific outreach. In terms of scientific output, he has authored over 25 scientific articles, 2 book chapters, and served as a member of the editorial board for internationally renowned journals. He has participated in 22 R&D projects, acting as the principal investigator in two of them, and has presented over 90 communications at national and international conferences. Currently, he serves as the director of an official university master's program and is a member of the research group on audiomotor disorders and reflex epilepsies at the Salamanca Institute for Biomedical Research (IBSAL), while also being a member of the "Neurosciences of Castilla y León" Excellence Unit at the University of Salamanca.
